After working for more than 10 years as a Registered Clinical Counsellor, Dr. Christine Yu received her PhD in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia. She offers individual therapy and consultation services to children, youth and their families for a range of mental health concerns. After completing her pre-doctoral internship at a university counselling centre, Dr. Yu expanded her practice to include working with young adults. With her warm and compassionate nature, she brings a collaborative approach to evidence-based treatment and works creatively to tailor therapeutic work to clients’ interests and needs. She is particularly passionate about providing services to those struggling with emotional dysregulation, anxiety (social anxiety, separation anxiety, phobias, generalized worries, selective mutism), OCD, low mood, trauma and behavioural difficulties. She is a graduate of the International OCD Foundation Pediatric Behaviour Therapy Training Institute, where she received advanced training from leading pediatric OCD experts.
Dr. Yu remains a registered member of the BC Association for Clinical Counsellors and is in the process of applying for registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC. She is practicing under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist until completion of the registration process.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Yu aims to increase awareness and promote mental health literacy in the community by offering workshops. She was an active part of Anxiety Canada’s Scientific Advisory Committee as a doctoral student member from January 2018 until its closure in April 2025. She also belongs to several professional associations, including the Canadian Psychological Association and the International OCD Foundation.
